Course Content
This Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) looks at the death of ‘Jacob’ who was killed by his son in 2016.

DHRs were established on a statutory basis under Section 9 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004). The purpose of a DHR is to establish what lessons are to be learned from the domestic homicide about how local professionals and organisations work individually and together to safeguard victims.

Learning packs will be made available as part of this briefing and will include a power point presentation, 7 minute briefing and a summary Learning Report, so that each agency can cascade and share the learning prior to the cases being published.

Course Aims
To share and understand the learning from local domestic homicide reviews.

This briefing is aimed at anyone who works with adults, children and families in Manchester and who will have some responsibility in cascading the learning back within their agency or organisation.

The interactive workshop uses lived experience, film and debate to help participants widen their thinking and reflect on not only their practice.

• Outline the criteria and purpose of Domestic Homicide Reviews as identified in Home Office Guidance.
• Identify the learning and recommendations from local Domestic Homicide Reviews.
• Consider and explore issues such as professional curiosity and unconscious bias.
• Complete a MSB Action Plan.
