Course Content
This Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) looks at the death of ‘Karen’ who was killed by her brother ‘John’ in 2016. Both Karen and her brother had enduring mental health conditions managed differently by themselves and services. There were concerns around alcohol misuse and that John could be difficult to engage.

Learning packs will be made available as part of this briefing and will include a power point presentation, 7 minute briefing and a summary Learning Report, so that each agency can cascade and share the learning prior to the cases being published.

Please attend this briefing if you will be sharing the learning among your staff and colleagues.

Anyone interested in applying to attend this briefing will need to be registered and apply via the Manchester Safeguarding Board training website.  Please note that all application will need the authorisation of the attendees line manager.

DHRs were established on a statutory basis under Section 9 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004). The purpose of a DHR is to establish what lessons are to be learned from the domestic homicide about how local professionals and organisations work individually and together to safeguard victims.
