Manchester Reducing Infant Mortality Strategy – Launch Events

The infant mortality rate in Manchester has increased by around 40% over the last decade. Between 2011-2013, 108 children died before their first birthday; by the 2015-2017 period this figure had risen to 151.

Partners are absolutely determined to halt the rise in infant mortality and this new strategy will help to reduce Manchester’s infant mortality rate. This long-term strategy will focus on ensuring that the best specialist knowledge is being applied to providing high quality and safe services, plus improving access to health advice and information, so that we can minimise risks for mothers and babies at all stages.

Manchester Health and Care Commissioning have arranged three launch events for the Manchester Reducing Infant Mortality Strategy, to enable colleagues to find out more about the strategy and how they can contribute.

Reducing infant mortality is a key priority for the city and the strategy has the full support of the Health and Well-being Board, where it was recently approved and there is an expectation that partners work together to see improvements.

The events are aimed at those working in senior roles, managers, operational staff and volunteers and anyone with an interest in reducing infant mortality in Manchester.

Managers are asked to support as many staff as possible to attend.

The three events are being held at different locations across the city to maximise attendance. To book a place visit the Eventbrite website as listed below:
