Public data – safeguarding in context

When looking at the performance of the work of the Boards it is important that we understand the context of the lives of children, young people and adults in Manchester and the impact this has on the resources required to support them.

Our city has to meet the needs of a very diverse population and there are high levels of poverty being experienced by many families.

Useful information sources:

Manchester factsheets  are part of a range of Public Intelligence Population publications issues by Manchester City Council and include a profile of children and a profile of older people.

The Public Health England Health Profiles provide a snapshot of health in Manchester according to different categories. There are also profiles which relate to more specific profiles such as adults social care or health behaviours in children and young people.

The Manchester Public Health Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) for Manchester and the bi-annual Compendium of Statistics provide further valuable information.

The End Child Poverty campaign interactive Child Poverty Map can be found on their website at www.endchildpoverty.org.uk
