World Alzheimer’s month – National Dementia Carers’ Day 9th September

September is World Alzheimer’s Month
World Alzheimer’s month is the international campaign by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) every September to raise awareness and challenge the stigma that surrounds dementia. World Alzheimer’s Month was launched in 2012; World Alzheimer’s Day is on 21st September each year.

Two out of every three people globally believe there is little or no understanding of dementia in their countries. The impact of World Alzheimer’s month is growing, but the stigmatisation and misinformation that surrounds dementia remains a global problem that requires global action  – find out more at www.worldalzmonth.org

Many people living with dementia rely on the love, support and care of family members, friends and unpaid carers.

National Dementia Carers’ Day, founded by the Alzheimer’s Society, Dementia UK and SweetTree Home Care Services, was established to share, recognise, and support this crucial role.

Now in its fourth year, the annual awareness day will this year take place on Sunday 9th September 2018 within Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
